maybe something with good uv protection so as too keep the color as long as possible.sadly it turns an ugly brown in time.

Look into General Finish's Wood Bowl Finish. Food safe. Nice finish.

I used Danish oil on this one about 10-15 years ago, and it did eventually turn brown, but I don't think it's as far as 'ugly'. the other wood is ash.

Nice looking bowl and the purple heart adds some great color. I would recommend Krylon spray lacquer with UV protection. If you keep it out of direct sun light the color will last much longer.

Very nice. If you aren't using the bowl for consumables I would go with a high Gloss poly.
