Project Information

I've had a few requests for dyed vessels with more subdued coloration. This is my first attempt at keeping the layers and depth, without the vibrant colors. I am curious what others think of this coloration.

This hollow form vessel measures approximately 6.25 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide. It is turned from end grain, fiddle back maple. It is finished with aniline dyes and wipe-on poly.

All comments, especially critiques, are welcomed and appreciated.

Looks fantastic, and the depth of the finish is mesmerizing. How many different dye colors did you use on this piece?

It reminds me of mahogany granite or black/brown obsidian. Gorgeous as usual!

Im a huge fan of all your work you have it seems an ability to chose the best pieces of wood and color. I recognize your pieces before i read who did it they always make my jaw drop ! The colors are always indescribable although i often feel like im staring through the hubble space telescope at some distant nebula ! This piece is more subdued not my favorite but no less fascinating never hesitate to try something new. Oh I almost forgot to thank you for sharing how you obtain those beautiful colors I cant wait to try it myself .

Gorgeous Joe. Damn I wish there were other adjectives I could use. I just can't think of any good ones. We've used them up. Fandamtastic.
