Project Information

I made the PRINCESS CARRIAGE for a friend of mine, at Church. It is made from 1/8 inch Walnut (customer request). The first step was to pre-sand the wood to 220 grit with my random orbit sander. Then I attached the patterns and started cutting. After all of the parts were cut I removed the leftover pattern and started hand sanding with 220 grit sandpaper (lightly). In about three steps I worked up to 400 grit sandpaper. I used very light strokes working on all areas of the piece. I applied three coats of spray shellac finish.

I have made this piece about five (5) times and each time I modify the assembly process. This time I have a very solid unit assembled with detailed techniques.

I think the customer is ready to pick it up tomorrow but I need to put one more coat of finish on it in the morning.
