I love that you are doing such a cool job painting this stuff, RG!!! These are awesome! I didn't get the chance to comment on your other recent projects yet but I am heading over to them tonight. I wanted to tell you how much I loved everything! There are so many people around here who have rustic things and would love EVERYTHING that you do. I hope you have a great outlet so that you can sell them. You need to get them out there to be seen and I think you will do very well.

This stuff is new to me Rivergirl, but it brings back memories and emotions from way back when. That does indeed make it art, and many like myself will surely like these pieces a lot.

Kelly, we will have to make sure all the old fencing, pallets etc are nailed down when your'e around, cos we sure won't recognise it after you have waved your wand,
you must have a bucket full of these amazing designs rolling around in your head. It can be damed hard to get it right when you beat up & distress a piece of timber, but you manage just fine

Well Pete, I have to tell you, my lovely attorney neighbor next door hired a guy replace his huge raised deck around his house. He tore off the wood and put down that expensive plastic stuff. Naturally, as soon as I heard a hammer I went over there to see what old wood I might be able to snag.
"Aha! a giant pile of used 5/4." said I. But "Nay," said the worker, the man would like to keep the old wood for future use." "Surely not," said I. "Just tell him Kelly wants it." And that is how I ended up with a nice big pile (minus 5 sticks) of naturally weathered and distressed 5/4 and it was a mere 100 yards from my garage. Another neighbor donated a bunch of old bead board. But she doesn't know it yet. hehe… And of course- the beer distributor has graciously provided a nice pile of …. PALLETS.. I am always looking for piles of old wood. Drives Len INSANE.

They look great but the sharp corners on the fresh cuts on top of the boards kinda stick out. I'd take a large ball-peen hammer "the one with the rounded face" and lightly tap all around the top edges to soften and distress the fresh cuts.

Big Daddy- I see what you mean- the final stain sort of makes the end grain pop- but I looked at the box after reading your comment, and the flash on the photo is making it look worse than it is. I could add some white paint there and redistress- to hit with a hammer would be fatal- crack city. Thanks for the input!
