Project Information
For a long time I worked on the idea of this router table, and finally realized it, and now I enjoy working with it. I called this machine the Premium Homemade Ruter Table because I recognized 8 reasons for this:
1) STRENGTH AND STABILITY
Metal construction of the Premium Homemade Router Table base together with MDF sides insures exeptional overall stability and gives a sence of security while operating.Work surface is made out of foil laminated MDF which, apart from a flat surface, insures stability and good moveability of material being worked on across the work surface. Equipment drawers and a foldable metal base provide additional stability and lower the mashines center of gravity making work more comfortable
2) MOBILITY
Thanks to a unique suspention solution and built-in wheels, Premium Homemade Router Table is a completely mobile mashine which can easily be moved inside the workshop. At the same time, when operating, the Premium Homemade Router Table is stabilized using a folding metal base, which can easily be activated or deactivated without the help of tools, giving maximum stability and safety when used.
3) DOUBLE FENCE
Inovative Double Router Table Fence which aside from classic way of operating, also offers fixation of the fence in elected reference position and then precise forward and backward movement of the movable part relative to the reference position elected with presition of one hundredth part of a millimeter. For final fixation before switching on the router, it is enough to tighten one or two screws, which together with the side guides of the fence, ensure the necessary stability of the fence, and therefore precision in operation.
4) MOTORIZED LIFTING AND LOWERING OF THE ROUTER
Thanks to the built-in electric motor and transmission mechanism, the router moves up and down by simply pressing the button on the control box. In addition, the router retains its vertical position with full stability thanks to robust sliding bearings. Built-in microswitches define the upper and lower "dead spots" in which the router stops, even though the router lift / lower key is pressed. This avoids mechanical failures of the mechanism due to the movement of the router outside the defined range.
When fine bit height adjustment is required, an external wheel is available, with whose manual rotation, router and bit are brought to the desired position in relation to the work surface.
Replacement of bits can be performed at the lowest position of the router using standard keys, or when the router is in the uppermost position, using special bent keys.
5) PRECISION READING OF BIT HEIGHT
The built-in digital meter allows the arbitrary positioning of the zero position - the reference point in relation to which the height of the router is measured with an accuracy of one hundredth of a millimeter. For the reference point, the top of the work surface is most often used, although this can be any other point in the allowed range of the vertical movement of the router, in relation to which the height is measured in "+" (above), or "-" (below) range.
6) DOUBLE DUST VACUUMING
"Upper dust", formed above the work surface, runs through the orifice at the edge of the router table fence, and "Lower dust" underneath the work surface runs through a hidden channel installed in the very work surface of the Premium Homemade Router Table. The entrance to the channel in the work surface is equipped with a "brush" that improves dust extraction. Both channels meet in a common output and drive through the vacuum cleaner hose.
7) SETTING THE WORKING PARAMETERS
Premium Homemade Router Table has the ability to set the most important operating parameters:
- Verticality of the bit - Adjusted on two axes (left-right and forwards-backwards)
- The zero position of the fence in relation to which the movement of the fence is measured in the forward and backward direction
- The bit zero position in relation to which the movement of the bit is measured by height (up and down)
- Adjusting the position and angle of the control box
8) STORING OF EQUIPMENT AND ASSISTANCE TOOLS
Two drawers beneath the router have a capacity of storing a considerable amount of equipment and assistance tools. Front door bit carriers allow for a organised storage of bits available, and the space beneath the router carrier for vertical movement, can serve as a repository for the keys used to replace bits and other equipment.
Here you can watch a video on how I create and made a Premium Homemade Router Table.
