Project Information

I have long wanted to try turning and done a lot of reading and watching Utube videos so a few months ago finally bought the lathe and these are some early practice efforts on bits of branch and fallen logs of mainly wattle, leopard tree and eucalyptus. Finish is shaving burnish only and some friction burning. One bowl has a leather disc glued-on base and some basic pyrographic work.

Nice stuff David. I like that you are doing decorative art on your turnings. When I started out I was more interested in turning a lot of pieces. Since then, I've decided that one good turning is worth more than any number of uninteresting ones. Unfortunately I'm still trying to turn that one good one. But what the heck, I am having a lot of fun trying! Hope you do too.
