Project Information

Our circa mid 60's powder room had never had a redo, still sporting 1" pink floor tiles, a flimsy build-in vanity. The wife went to visit her mother for a week and I set out to surprise her! Ripped it all out, new underlayment and tile, wainscoting, built a new "table" on which to set the new vessel sink and done. Seven days, she was surprised and I could hardly move for three days!

Since I built the vanity, I figured it was good for lumberjocks (posted on Home ReFurb too). I used DowelMax for the joints on the vanity and that is one easy tool to love! Pricey but makes quick and foolproof work of jointry.

Well, Congrats on your redo, looks professionally made thru and trough. Hope the missus was nicely surprised and happy about it… Hope she handsomely rewarded you haha

And the sink table is Lumberjocks material isn't it?

Keep up the good work.

Very nice, did you buy the wainscoting or make it yourself? I plan to do something similar in our master bath, assuming I ever get started :)

The wainscoting was MDF pre-packaged stuff from Home Depot glued to the wall. Works well and easily conforms to any wall irregularities. I guess I'm not a purist! I used Hardiboard underlayment which was easier to work with than the Duroc product. The old tile was set in a 1.5 inch mortar base with wire lath reinforcement! Gave the air compressor and air hammer a work out and we are still finding cement dust in corners! Glad the room is only 4×5.

Great job, great use of design and space is such a small footprint.
