Bank boxes for two of my seven granddaughters. I used poplar and the paint is an inexpensive sample size [water-based] with several coats of water-based varnish. The guy who sold me the paint noted three times that the paint was just to test the color and it would not hold up like the 'real' paint so I fixed it with the varnish.
