Project Information

I got jealous of all the material support/workstation/storage projects for the Kreg pocket hole jig seen here, here, and here, here, here, here, and here.... and here. Sooooooooo I decided to make may own version for the Porter Cable Quick Jig pocket hole joinery tool.

I was going to go with a Maple Ambrosia wood or an African Walnut but ultimately decided with Pine for its supperior properties. It was a little more pricey but I found a little shop in my town called Lowes that imports it in bulk. Notice in the pictures above how the jig adjusts for normal upright material support and large material support.

Here is the before picture:

Here are a couple construction pictures, not a how to but I captured some of the key steps:
During the cut:

After the cut:

I am selling plans for these for $82. Also I am taking orders and can accomadate bulk orders and variations in material support length. ;)

Well I use the Quick Jig so much I thought I could cut down on the time and hassle it took to set it up and use it.

Looks like a nice serup.

Do you find the porter cable jig any better or worse than the kreg. I have seen this one on The American woodshop show. It just seems to be a bit bulky when you compare the size difference.

THOMRIDER- did you click on the links? Everyone I know buys a Kreg Jig and straps 20lbs of wood to it to make it better. And then they say the Quick Jig is bulky :)

One thing I like about the Kreg Jig but have never had to use yet, the ability to take it portable and strap it on to a piece of furniture or something. But if I need that I will plunk down $10 for the single hole Kreg pocket Jig.

Other people have said you can't set custom depths with the Quick jig cause it adjusts to the thickness of the wood. I just move the collet a little up or down the drill bit. Guess they didn't think of that.

Well if it will do the hole's for the 1 1/4" scerws or 3/4". My K-2 has it's own bench so that anit a problom but I like to get away from useing Kregjig after the way they done use older wood works.

You know Im pretty happy with my kreg setup, the time it saved me payed for it on the first job I used it on. BUT….........Your jig is epic! I dont even know what type of tool that is! Is it the porter cable flux capacitor???? Whatever it is it looks awesome and makes my kreg look like lego….

I am outraged that I didn't get top 3 for this project!!! :) Not even top 15….
Almost all the Kreg material support projects got top 3 or top 15 on this site. This is an outright discrimintation against non-kreg pocket hole users. (If it helps me win any points I do use Kreg screws)

People must feel bad that they bought a lego kit for pocket holes instead of a flux capacitor quality jig. (That one's for you Mr. Box Whisperer).

I think I need more people to favorite this project. :( Time to create some fake accounts… j/k….

I didn't know that PC made such a jig. Looks awesome. What brand is the miter saw and stand? Does it have a work light on it?
And 5 points for using Kreg screws. 5 more if you paint it blue.

I guess it's too late but I am going to favorite it anyway.
