Project Information

While doing a bit of remodeling in my shop, ( I'm whooped, btw), I needed a plywood rack pretty badly. Thanks to Harbor Freight and a coupon, I bought 2 of these 1000 lb carpet dollys for 9 bux a piece. (I stripped the carpet of them before I screwed the 2×4's to em). The 3 4×8 OSB boards I had left over from my 1st shop build, and 3 2×4's later, I have a nice plywood rack that fits nicely in a cubby out of the way. Just roll it out to get some ply when you need it. Also made plenty of spots for cut offs. As you can see, it's full. All this was laying around everywhere. It's nice having plywood all in one spot, and ez access. Thnx for the looks, and any comments, good/bad/ugly, always appreciated. Hope to have my shop organized up pretty soon so I can post some pics. I'm lovin my extra space, but, it has been putting a whoopin on me. Whew!!

Your new shop is going to be so purdy and clean you won't want to mess it up with that old nasty sawdust.
Weellll maybe not. Good job. Hope you get over being whoopped.

Great way to handle the sheets and the cut offs. I need something like this for my cut offs since, like you were, mine are all over my shop. Thanks for the post and remember we're not 18 years old, 10 feet tall and bullet proof anymore.

Great idea Roger! Excellent use of scraps, and… it's good to see someone not afraid to use HF for items suited to their needs. I need one of these!

Roger, I REALLY Like you idea and it would be handy to have a rack like this one to roll around all your pieces of plywood or whatever. But I have a concern, how top heavy is it? I try to always think of safety what a tradegy it would be if this tipped over while rolling it from place to place. Great Idea!! Please be careful!

Thanks for sharing!!

Nice work. You have dividers and big pieces can be pulled out. Good thinking

Thnx everybody. Chuck: It is heavy, but, it rolls fairly easy. All 8 wheels rotate 360 freely. I don't have a wheel lock, because when I roll it out to pull a full sheet, it rests in the corner of the wall, so it's not going anywhere. Believe it or not, this holds a heck-of-a lot of sheet goods. I'm sure if you tried hard enough, it would tip over, but, with a lil carefulness, you can roll it all over the place. P.S. Those skinny, long pieces will only be there for a little while. Probably head out to the fire pit. :)

lol,
I was at Northern Tool last week pricing casters and realized I could buy a furniture dolly with 4 casters for the price of 2 in the caster bin.

Nice looking bin too.
