Project Information

OK, I promise that this might be the last chevalet I post. :)

I just finished a new chevalet for the school so that students could test drive one of the CNC kits. This one is not veneered and proudly shows off its plywood (veneer) heritage. I'm impressed and a little surprised by the appearance and I think the long term stability will be even better than the original solid hardwood version.
As an added bonus I can now accommodate six students should the need arise.

The palomino reference is because all the other rides in the shop are dark horses.

Thanks for looking,

Please post away. I am not likely to use a Chevalet but I enjoy seeing and reading about them and the great things you make.

Never hurts to have a Palomino in the corral… Looks like a very sturdy machine…..

Looks good Paul. The new house is almost finished and I should have my new workshop up and running by the fall. I'm going to leave room for a chevy,

Wow…that's a great looking piece. I would probably never use it as intended but I would love to have that in my shop or house as a conversation piece…it is just so cool looking!

Great looking chevy Paul,That thing looks rock solid and I would guess that they come at a very reasonable price, I like how you left the door open so to speak with the "might be". I don't mind if you post 100 more chevys, I like looking at them.

Paul, you need to name it Trigger. When I was a kid everybody wanted there own, Trigger. I'm thinking that's gonna be a real nice ride.

Real nice chevalet, Paul. That plywood is real stable and should hold its shape better than solid wood. And Trigger was a real nice palomino!! I second the vote for Trigger. And an ironwood horse would be Diablo!!

Cheers, Jim

Wow, that is really nice, I'm surprised no one used plywood before. You make me want to start sawing veneer again.

Thanks for the kind words.
I'm just trying to get chevalets into more hands. I have had a wonderful ride since I built my first one several years ago and I really want to help others experience that. Marquetry is a fascinating field.
