Project Information

Pink Ivory (Berchemia zeyheri), also called Red Ivory, is a very rare African wood. The Pink Ivory tree grows predominantly in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa, and is said to be sacred to the Zulu. The wood is extremely hard and exceptionally dense. It works well, and will hold fine detail when carved. This wood has a tendency to darken to red over time, with exposure to UV rays. Poking around online, I see that reports of its rarity may exist just to mark up the price.

This dark pink european style pen has platinum components. Platinum (along with titanium) has the highest level of durability with regards to wear and corrosion resistance.

The pen is finished with BLO and friction polish.

Great job Scott.

I sold a pen and pencil set of Pink Ivory to a lady at a company where my daughter worked. Someone stole the set from her desk.

She came back and ordered another set.

Nice pen. I stumbled on a piece of that a while back. It's beautiful when finished, but stinks to high heaven when you work it.
