Boy, if that doesn't look plaid, nothing looks plaid. Excellent job.

Really nice design and great choice of woods. I was wondering if there are three or the long stripe was a fourth.

Sharp eye on your part. There are only three types of wood. The long stripe is maple, but not end-grain. So, the appearance is different from the other maple pieces. The first two glue-ups required a trip to my friend's house and considerable time on his drum sander. When, making the final glue-up of the long maple pieces, I didn't have the heart to ask that final favor. When glueing, I found a way to keep the pieces almost perfectly flat and use a card scraper and disc sander for the final finishing.

It came out great, I did one of these and my cherry had aged too much and was much darker. Yours looks much better.
