Project Information

I lasered a picture of my dad and his dog that was taken around 1940 into the back of a mirror for his upcoming birthday. I then designed a stand for it that I made out of hard maple that was left over from building my grandson's cradle. The main part of the frame was ripped from a ¾ board and is ¼ inch thick, I used my bandsaw and planer to dimension it. Besides that all of the pieces were cut out and engraved on my laser. The frame is a quick design I came up with while pondering how best to display and protect the mirror.

The text on the bottom is from the poem A Boy And His Dog by Edgar Guest

A boy and his dog make a glorious pair No better friendship is found anywhere,
For they talk and they walk and they run and they play And they have their deep secrets for many a day

I have never seen anything laser etched on back of a mirror- this turned out awesome.
