Project Information

This is a Personalized Black Walnut Wood Seat Ottoman that I created to accompany my personalized black walnut wood seat rocker and my personalized black walnut side table. You can see in the close up images that the lines carry through from one part to thee next creating the look that the Custom Ottoman is made from one piece of wood. The legs are sculpted to resemble the cleat that one sees on the dock to secure a boat with a rope. I hope that you have enjoyed viewing this Custom Black Walnut Wood Seat Ottoman.

I like the boat cleat-looking leg top that can double as a handle to grab onto when moving the piece.

You've added some fantastic lines to the piece, for sure! An airy-looking, but still solidly built seat.

Were you going for the contrast in color on the top, or maybe it just shows up more in the photo on the right hand side, in the third picture? (Sort of looks like a fairly sharp break at a glue line?) Believe me, I'm not being critical, as my skill level is not up to yours yet.

This sort of reminds me of a piece I saw here at the Denver Art Museum at the visiting King Tut exhibit several months ago now.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go look at your other work.

Thank you for the positive complements on my Custom Black Walnut Wood Seat Ottoman. The difference in the color of the wood is due to the direction of the light and the opposing grain direction. As I recall the seat did come from the same piece of wood. If I am not recalling that the top was made out of the same peace of wood and in fact it was made from two pieces of wood that grew across the country from each other that could also be the color issue. This Custom Ottoman could be a victim of trying to create something with nothing.

Personally, I think your personalized Black Walnut wood seat ottoman personifies the kind of work I wish I could do, but due to personal problems (lack of talent and skills) I am unable to produce. Thanks for posting!

Beauty piece. Reminiscent of Sam Maloof's work. Looks very "sit worthy".

I just wanted to say once again thank you all for the positive complements. When you can not seem to sell a single piece of my work it becomes very important to find the positive reason to continue to produce pieces like this one. All of the comments chiming in on my email yesterday was one of those positive reminders why I do what I do.
