Project Information

Hi All,

I've been away for almost a year. Think I'll get back to the shop. My latest projects are a couple of Pennsylvania Spice Boxes and a simple 4 drawer jewelry box. I don't remember the inspiration for the spice boxes. I believe one is a Steve Latta project from an issue of "Fine Woodworking". All of these boxes involve many handout dovetails. Most of the materials include: Claro walnut and curly maple. The rose inlay on the walnut box was purchased on-line from Constantines.

Beautiful workmanship, very very nice.
Did you know?: just like you have to be in Scotland to make real official Scotch, you have to be in Pennsylvania to make a real Penssylvania Spice Box. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

PS: your box looks so good, we'll let it slide as Pennsylvanian this time.

Awesome-I've made one of these (it was the plan in American Woodworker) and can attest to how much work they are. OTOH, they are actually a great way to get fluent in cutting dovetails. For obvious reasons-so many-but also because the sides of the drawers are usually thin, and so you don't waste away (pun intended) chiseling the pins out.
