Project Information

This Desk on Frame was started at Lonnies Bird's School in Dandridge, TN. His plans orriginally called for a frame to have tapered legs and the desk was drawn up based on a period MA desk. I wanted to have cabriole legs so, with Lonnie's help, I redesigned the frame. I used trifed feet so now I call it a Pennsylvania desk.

This project was a load of fun. The gallery was completed at Lonnie's as part of a one week class. This class has become one of his most popular offerings. I recommend it.

Please, don't look too close at my fans. They are pretty ragged. But, I had a blast working on them.

Happy woodworking!

Sure looks good to me, that looks like a difficult piece to build. Congrats on the DT3.

Nowadays, vintage furniture are adored not only by the older generation but also by collectors. The more vintage the outlook, the higher the price they could fetch. Whether they are mere storage cabinets, dressers, or even stools, they all have the same unique value.

You don't see desks made like this these days anymore! Such classic storage desks are so rare these days that I think that you would definitely not be able to afford one if you found one on the market now!
