Project Information

Here is my completed pantry door tool chest, from closed to full extension. The front has been stained and sanded to give it this antique look (frankly, the black oak stain I used was way too dark!). Two coats of shellac have been applied on all exterior surfaces, except the shelves which got two coats of that dark oak gel stain. The interior was kept raw since I'm planning to glue hooks, holders and shelves. Any finish wood interfer with a good glue bond.

And here it is hung to the wall on french cleats, ready to be filled. Can you imagine the usefulness of the top and lower shelves I added?

All construction details and photos on this page of my blog.

Thanks for looking.

Best,

Serge

I have saved this to my favorites. I think the usefulness will be beyond first expectations. Nice work.

Thank you all for your comments.

@CAF: You're right. When installed I realized that even if the window area can't be used permanently, the cabinet can temporarily span towards the window, yet not blocking natural light.

@Kent Sheppherd: Sooner or later, you will!

Best,

Serge

great design… I really like it.

Is that T-track running verticle in the board on the wall to the left? What's up with that? Ripping guide?

Where'd you get the magnets?

Thank you for your comments fellows.

@Keifer: You're right, woodworkers needs and imagination have no limits. I thought about using the chest to store my router bit collection, but I believe it wouldn't be large enough! LOL

Best,

Serge
