Project Information

Crosses and ornaments always seem to be popular with our customers, and even though we have a few different cross ornament patterns already, it has been a while and lately we have been asked a few times to come up with some new cross designs.

I like drawing geometric designs and crosses are one of my favorites. These were made in 4" tall ornament size, but I think most of these would look good enlarged to a much larger size and hung on the wall or mounted to a stand.

The cutting is straightforward. Normally I would have stack cut two layers at a time with this thin wood to give more resistance to the blade making things easier to cut, but I tried cutting just one layer since the backs were easy and the fronts were cut from Jatoba, which is very hard. Both woods are about 3/16" thick. I like to use 3/16" for most ornaments just to reduce the chance of breaking delicate pieces in the process.

I am really happy with how they turned out, although I do need to try and get better pictures. I had trouble getting the color to come out right.

The pattern and instructions for this design are available on our website.

Thanks again for the kind words everyone.

PaulDoug - The dream catchers are just about 3" diameter. Of course you could always enlarge them if you wanted.
