Nice looking table, well done. Did you use solid boards in the middle or plywood? I was wondering about wood expansion.

I used solid boards (3/4 inch or 19mm) for the table infill butted as tight as possible.

With regards to expansion I left a small gap of 1mm (not sure what they would be in inches) at end of the table which I then sealed using a flexible, waterproof sealant used on boat decks.

I haven't found expansion to be a issue as yet, the table has been outside in the sun for about 4 months but it is covered to prevent rain and dirt getting onto it when not in use. My concern has more so been timber shrinkage which has meant the table has opened between the boards by a small amount (less than 1.5mm) something which i didn't think about.

Perhaps running a glue joint router bit along the board edges may have held it together??? A router was not something I owned at the time of building…i'd be interested to know if jointing the boards may have made a difference….(something to consider in future projects)
