Project Information

This is my first woodworking project in years. Trying to get back in the swing of things with limited space (no room for a table saw). This was constructed almost entirely of pocket hole (Kreg) joinery on 1×4's. I wanted to keep it a light as possible. Used a pre-stain conditioner on pine then a dark walnut stain. Since it is going to be outside I added Minwax's Outdoor Clearshield. Looking for suggestions on a handle or knob to make opening it a little easier.

welcome to lumberjocks … good looking project

you might consider making your own wood handle … maybe out of white oak

Nice looking chest. For a handle, I can't make a specific recommendation, but should direct you to Lee Valley. They've got a huge selection and I'm sure you'll find something you like.

With me, the biggest problem with Lee Valley is that I have a harder time trying to pick just one ;)

Welcome to LJs. I'd look at Lee Valley too. Look for an antique look, that chest looks like it's a hundred years old. That's a complement. It's looks pretty cool.

I agree with the antique look comments above. That will really accent this chest.

A great looking chest.

It's almost a shame to put this outside.
