Outdoor Bench Swing

Well it's been a while to post a project but I did got busy again with a couple of not so small ones for a friend of mine.
An Outdoor Bench Swing made out of Meranti wood except the two arm rest (run out of stock) which where made from iroko wood. Finished with outdoor decking oil.
The swing accessories I got them out from an old swing and man did those heavy duty swing spring hooks made a huge difference… so smooth !!!

It looks like some some piece of furniture from the finest furniture design magazine. The wood itself looks realy beautiful. Armrest, although ''Plan B'', turned out great. I bet it's sturdy as it looks.

Stelio's seems you've gotten back to woodworking :) That's a really beautiful swing for the yard. I'm interested in hearing more about the woods used. Are they native woods to Cyprus?

Hi Bill yes i'm back took a bit longer than I expected !
Meranti & Iroko are not native woods. Cyprus has only pine and even that is not for furniture. All woods are imported thus very expensive.
Meranti is an Asian medium hardwood and is often been used for outdoor decking. I used that because of its price and weather resistant also its good behavior when finishing.
The Iroko is an African hardwood (close to Teak but not quite). Is Also been used for flooring. boat building and furniture. Is good for outdoors but needs a bit more yearly treatment with oil.
Both species hold quite good in our hot weather and rain.

Hope you are doing good with your new location buddy. If there's anything I can do for you just let me know :) !!!
