Project Information

This is our new kitchen that I just finished yesterday. Lower cabinets are raised panel walnut with a clear lacquer, upper cabinets are a light brown flat panel with a dark brown glaze on all the edges, solid maple dovetailed drawer boxes, soft close drawers and doors, upper spice pullout, lower and upper lazy susans in the corner, maple cutlery tray, utensil tray and drawer knife block, solid maple counter on the cabinets by the half wall and Wilsonart HD laminate countertops on the rest. I made the fridge opening for the new fridge we would like to get down the road but our old fridge is in there for now so it looks a little small.

Well done my friend !
Spacious & beautiful, with some very serious storage space as well.
A project you can rightfully be proud of a long time from now.

Wow, that looks nice.

We are going to redo our kitchen in a few months. I added your project to my favorites so I can review it later. We also have white appliances with no thought of replacing them since the fridge is only about 4 months old. I will have to make the same enclosure for the fridge as yours. I will share this with my sweetie. She wants a dark stained color for the kitchen to go with our Tuscany theme. While walnut would be more costly, I wouldn't have to worry about stain. :)

I really like the way you managed to fit in the buffet and it not stick out in the traffic pattern.

I have a few of questions.
1) How tall are the upper cabinets? Are they mounted a few inches from the ceiling or flush to to it?
2) Did you make your upper cabinet face frame top rails wider than normal so the crown molding would have room to attach.
3) What size of crown molding did you use?

Thanks for sharing. I know a lot of folks will be checking out this project.

Thanks guys. Lots of work but we are definitely happy with it. The upper cabinets are 36" tall plus a 2" undercabinet trim and the crown molding. They are euro style cabinets so no face frames but I attached an extra piece to the top of the cabinets to nail the crown to. They are about 3 1/2" from the ceiling and then there is a 2 piece crown molding. First just a flat piece with the detail routed on the bottom edge which gets nailed to the top of the cabinet and then the crown gets nailed to that. The crown molding is 3 1/4"
