Project Information

Here is a railing for a friend's gameroom that I just completed over the weekend. It's made from red oak and each side is a little more than four feet long. The posts have a core made from 2×6s with 3/4 red oak 45'ed on the sides to give the impression of a solid post. One post is outfitted with a lightswitch which was REAL fun to incorporate…but that's what my great friend wanted. All the details of the posts were made on the fly as things took shape but all in all my friends really loved it.
Hope you enjoy…

Looks professionally done to me. Good solid oak, good solid design, well finished. Great.

good job… clean and tight… nice

funny place for a light switch that's for sure… but you did a nice job of making it fit… I guess if that's what he wanted, that's what he'll ge :)

I really like the look. I am making a bed and used the same technique to get the posts made (3" square). I think I might do an overlay like you did on my headboard. Like I said, I like it!

I can appreciate the challenge of putting in that light switch. I once put a 2 outlet book in a red oak box that surrounded a Lallypost in a family rec room. Harder than it looks. I could blame any one else though, I was the designer. This is a good looking job. Thanks
