Project Information

I built this Oak Entertainment Center for a customer. It is made from solid Oak and Oak plywood. Each tower has multimedia storage, the left tower has storage for DVDs and VHS tapes, the right tower has storage for CDs and more VHS tapes. The spanner shelves are great for holding knick-knacks and such. It is stained in Golden Oak and is finished with 4 coats of hand rubbed Minwax Wipe-On Poly. Overall deminsions including 62" Big Screen TV are approximately 7-1/2' tall x 2' deep x 10' wide.

Very nice I. I saw the small pix and saw a fish tank, now that's entertainment.

Wow, this is a fairly complex project and nicely done. I think that I would find it a bit too dominant for my taste - but I appreciate the craftsmanship, SW.

Thanks Dick, Don and oscorner, It was definately a challenge. i had just finished an EC for a 35" TV for a women at work and then the lady I built this one for called and asked me to stop by to discuss building one for her. She showed me this wall in her living room that had nothing on it but the 62" TV…. she pointed at theTV and said I want you to build me an EC around that TV and I want it to be the focal point of the room. It took me 4 months, but she was happy with it, and that is what mattered most.

Glad I didn't have to help carry it in the house! Good job.

very nice. Wish I had a tv like that one. My 1987 Mitsubishi is drawing near to death. I do look forward to shooting it up with rifle when it is good and dead. I've even considered making one of those catapults that would throw, but then I would have to clean up the mess in the neighbor's pasture.

Keep posting, haven't seen your new work for awhile.

Mark, with the junk that's on TV these days, I feel like doing this with my 56" Plazma. It's amazing what we call entertainment - stuff that we wouldn't otherwise allow through the doors of our house - even stuff about which we are diametrically opposed.

I find that there is less and less on TV that I can, or will watch.

Sorry - I'm off on one of my hobby-horses.

Hey Mark… if you built a trebuchet like the one in the link below then that TV of yours might fly farther than your neighbors pasture.

That's a great looking EC. The matching speaker stands are a nice touch.

Well Dennis, it was heavy, but I built in 5 pieces not counting the spanner and the shelves. My oldest son was nice enough to help me install it. Even with furniture movers getting up the sidewalk and thru the front door was a challenge.

Thanks Mark & ipw1995, I built the matching speaker stands a few months later cause even with all the media storage in the towers she need more cd and DVD racks.
