Workshop Information

Location
United States

My workshop is a converted 3 car garage. It is a work in progress, but getting there slowly. Dimensions are 34' x 26'. It is heated and cooled so I can work year round. I also have a dehumidifier.
I have 4" of foam board/synthetic stucco on the exterior and 6" of insulation in the exterior walls.
I retired from being a chief engineer two years ago and had machinery from my short lived cabinet business from years ago. Just before retiring I purchased several more machines, which included three shapers (Casadea 13.5 hp, Delta 7.5 hp, Geetech 5 hp), tig welding machine (325 amp), Woodmaster 37" double drum sanding machine, Grizzly commercial mortising machine, Powermatic wood lathe, and a lock mortising machine.
The three phase power is supplied by a 30 hp rotary phase converter that I put together using American Rotary control converter. It supplies 400v to the Casadei shaper via transformer and 230v to the Delta shaper and Grizzly mortising machine.
Other equipment: 20" Jet bandsaw, Delta 5hp Unisaw with custom router (with DRO) and outfeed table, 12" Makita miter saws, 20" Powermatic planer, 8" Powermatic jointer, Porter Cable 24" & 16" Omnijig, Delta spindle sander and scroll saw, 37 Makita power tools, and numerous other brands.

The dust control is a Tempest 5 hp system with 7" main trunk line with 5" and 4" drops to machinery.
This is housed in it's own room with 9' filter unit and 2 each 55 gallon drum containers for dust and shavings.

Hi Joe, I started building custom dining tables. I have figured out that when it comes to getting something done right, you need good tools. That is half the way to perfection. Another is to take your time and think before laying out a project and cutting. Just my way of thinking.
