Project Information
These are the start of a bedroom set I'm working on. I got the inspiration and basic design from Lumberjock member Steve C. I changed the dimensions some to suite my needs. Whereas Steve used cherry, I opted for maple (that's what the wife wanted). And, unlike Steve's use of pocket screws, I opted for traditional mortise & tenon joinery throughout. The side panels, drawer panels, top insert and drawer boxes are 1/2" maple plywood, the rest is solid wood. Although I didn't specifically shop for curly maple, I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of figure I got.
I'm still not sure about the handles - I tried for something that compliments the curves of the legs and rails - not sure if I hit or missed the mark.
I finished everything with 5 coats of MinWax WipeOn Poly, followed by some paste wax.
