Project Information

I'm excited to add these new tables to my portfolio here.

These were inspired by traditional Japanese design that I admire greatly, as well as Stickley furniture, which I've also been interested in as of late. I've been wanting to work in qurater-sawn White Oak for awhile and decided to use it here.

All the joinery here is hand-cut and there is some interesting work in that regard though much of it is hidden. I documented all the joinery in pictures during the work, and will post those on this thread if anyone is interested. The tops are hand planed as are all my table tops.

Finish is a custom mix of boiled Linseed oil, Polyurethane and mineral spirits.

Enjoy and thanks as ever, for the opportunity to show off my work here.

I have been following your builds for quite some time. LOVE these newest additions. The lifted tops have intrigued me for years, yours are stunning. The way you combined the quarter sawn and flat exposing the rays is unique, or is that a camera trick?
I see we are nearly neighbors.

Hi jumbojack. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we're neighbors and I think we've spoke before on here. About the rays, if you're referring to the picture of the top; the rays actually extend into the other half as well (The tops were joined up from two pieces) but for some reason that lighting only caught the ones on the right side.

Looks great. I would be interested in seeing more pictures, especially of the build process.
