Special thanks to John White for the great inspiration.

When I saw the video of the New Fangled Work Bench, immediately I decided that I had to build one, and there were so many application that I could use the set up - especially on hand planing and trimming the plywood edge banding. My problem was that I had a work bench in my already small shop, and it worked out very well for me, so I didn't want to replace it nor build another full size one to take up more space… This was the reason for building the bench top version of the NFWB.
It's only 5' long, 13" wide, and 7" tall, I only used one 3/4" pipe clamp. It's all 3/4" plywood construction, glued with additional (2) of #20 biscuits at each joint, (2) spreaders in the box were also glued and biscuit jointed. Each spreaders had a cut out that would allow for the moving jaw of the pipe clamp to clear.
The T slot was purchased from IKEA for $6 (80" long). The 3/8" carriage bolts fitted right in. I made a set of clamps to move along the T slot; The planing beam was adjustable also along the T slots vertically, which was bolted at two end with 1/4" carriage bolts and wing nuts. I created a couple of key holes feature so that the carriage bolts can stay with the box instead of taking them out every time when it's dis-assembled. Everything could be taken apart and stored away at the corner of the shop when it's not been used.
The working height is 45" when it is clamped on my work bench, great height for detail hand work or router work; and it's also can be set up on the sawhorses, which would be 37" in height - right level with my table saw.
Hope that helps you.
Thanks.
