Showcase cover image for New Excavator

Project Information

Just completed the Excavator, a very challenging one, the plan miss some infos, there is even some item not drawn, but with experience you can go around.
I use Yellow heart for the body, ebonized oak for the base and various wood for the accent.
The challenge is in the track, they are 3/16" thick and hard to deal with th holes.
Any way the recipient is very happy.

Nicely done!!!
That's the first I've seen of the new designed excavator and it turned out really great!!!
I built the old design but added some changes that kinda give it the newer look.
Those tracks look like they would be interesting to make being so thin.
Here's mine.

I went back and checked out all your other models and they're all great!!!

woodman88 there's two different excavators on the Toys and Joys site.
The older one's tracks may be a little easier to build being that the parts are bigger but the new one sure looks top notch.
I will say and sure others will agree the tracks are 2/3 of this build, and as they suggest build extra track parts you will need them.

Yes Gr8hunter the smaller dozer you built and the older excavator use the same tracks.
The high gear dozer and newer excavator both use different designs.
