I have a wedding coming up for a cousin and bopped the striped board out this week while I was out of the office. Maple, walnut, cherry, & sapele. Basic, but I think it came out OK. (Gosh…I hope neither he nor his wife visit this site before the wedding. Oy!) 
The end grain was made for my nephew last summer for his wedding. That one is the most complicated one I've made. I don't even remember the species. Walnut, cherry, maple, and I think curly somethingorother and some canary wood thrown in for good measure.
