I love your corners to square up the box. I will start on these tomorrow. The small piece of pipe will make it easier to slide around. I use a HF ratchet strap and that will compliment it nicely. Thanks for the idea and keep them coming. I do have a box in the near future to try it on, only I need a CNC machine to carve in a name. We'll see how that goes.

Klaus, this is a great idea. I like the design. Your jig should work flawlessly. You have invented a simple way to apply pressure and make adjustments. I can see that this would insure that the box is perfectly square. The space around the corner would let you avoid getting in a mess with squeeze out.

I have had good luck with a strap hinge made this way. My method works very well, but only if you have accurate 45s on the corners. Your clamp jig would correct sloppy 45s. I especially like the idea of using the copper tubing as a spacer around the dowel. It also would let the strap slide easily to even the tension. That is a really nice touch. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Do you think your clamp could be modified to work on an 22.5 degree angled corner like on a serving tray?

Good thing I like doing things the hard way or else I'd have to make one of dem thing a ma jigs!

You know, Klaus, this makes me wish I still had my machine shop at the plant. I would love to have one of these rigs made out of aluminum, steel pins, and bushings, etc. I enjoyed the video very much. You are very creative and resourceful. Congratulations.

Very informative video and love the design. Wish your buddy that made the SketchUp drawings would have put them into one folder so we could copy and past them easier but they are well worth the work as they are one by one. Anyhow, I make a lot of boxes so I'm going to make a couple of these at different heights. You are always making something amazing and with high quality, wish I could spend some time in your shop sweeping sawdust and stealing ideas….The school is sure to appreciate your help and I thank you on their behalf….
