Project Information

My granddaughter is trying out my build of the new adirondack chair design that was featured in a recent issue of Fine Woodworking. When I was teaching high school woodshop adirondack chairs were a very popular project. This design is much more comfortable and a much more challenging project. The back slats are contoured for a comfortable back.

I made this out of Eastern White pine mainly because I had almost enough on hand from a table I made a while ago. The stain is Austrailian Timber Oil - Mahogany Flame. I attached 1/2" thick pieces of Trex deck boards to the feet to keep them from sucking up moisture.

Now that I've had a few months to enjoy this chair I can say that the design is as advertised. This chair is by far the best, most comfortable outdoor chair I have ever experienced.
