Project Information

Any woodworker would be proud to where a wooden tie when they go out on the town. I also discovered there were a few non woodworkers that really liked them. I made these and gave them out to the family for Christmas. They were all big hits. They were made out of cherry and walnut.

Great Scott, just when you thought that you see it all! Nice work. Sounds like the makings of a how to blog?

Do tell! Cool projects, how do they connect to each other and around the neck?

Great ties, but I'm glad I'm out of the necktie wearing business.

I neglected to mention how the pieces are attached. I bored 1/8" hloe thru each piece on both sides of each piece. I then ran 1/8" round elastic thru the holes and made a loop to go around the neck. I attached a jewelry clasp so they can be taken off easily or you can pull over the top of your head. The bottom piece I only drill the hole approximately 3/4" of inch done and then drill a hole from the back side to bring the elastic out and then looped it back into the hole on the other side.

Great idea - well done. If I ever wear a necktie again this is the kind of necktie I want to wear.

It typically takes a shoe horn and a whip to get me into a tie, but I might actually volunteer to wear.

How do you link them together?
Dennis, do you have wooden kilts?
