Project Information

So I have found that my favorite tool is one I made myself. Its a 9" dovetail saw made from a kit you can purchase from winsorsaw.com. The kit included the blade which was sharpened and set at 15ppi, a machined brass back and a pair of machined brass fasteners. I made the handle from walnut and drilled the mounting holes in the blade, which took some finess being swedish spring steel. The blade was attached into the brass spine with epoxy. A quick pass on the polishing wheel and it was ready to go.
Once assembled and finished the saw performed beautifully. I don't have much experience with other dovetail saws but this one cuts through maple like butter. I'm also pretty new to hand cut dovetailing so I figured I would start with a quality tool and for under $50 I am very happy with the outcome.
