My first table with Cabriole legs

Those legs look awesome. Nice work. I'd say the table wants to look chunky so an apron as tall as the legs are wide may look good. Can you describe how you shaped the legs?

Hi Thanks for the nice comments and I shaped the legs with just the bandsaw, and I am going to use a spokeshave and a fine rasp for the initial rounding and the bottom I am still throwing around the idea about either using the lathe or I might carve them.Thanks Mark

At this point I think the legs look large and "clunky" but your final refinements may take care of that. Good start though.

I think those look great and once softened with a rasp they will really look nice. This is where the emmert vise earns its keep. Enjoy the journey !

First off your rough stuff is looking very good. so here is my advise, I am not being harsh in any way so please don't take it that way. first you will need to invest 30 dollars in a tool called a shinto rasp you can get it from the japan woodworker. they are the importer for this tool and they have the best price i have found at retail this tool will help you make the round feet round and the legs round where they are supposed to be round.once you have the legs rounded the proportion will change a great deal and you will be a lot happier. Next you are going to need to decide on an apron size use a cardboard mockup to do this start with it at the thickest you think you would like to make it in your most extreme them slice it down off the top so your detail will still be on the bottom. then take the top off 1/2 and inch at a time each time take a photo and save it to your computer do this until you think the apron is way to thin. then line the photos up and decide how wide to make the apron as the thickness of the apron will effect how the legs look. I suggest also you take the time to buy Glen Huey's book Glen Huey's guide to building period furniture. In the book there is a great DVD on building cabriolet legs. I changed a few things I had been doing when i saw this video. Congratulations to you on your steeping up to the big challenge of cabriolet legs. armed with your new Shinto rasp and glens DVD you will be set to finish this up but i warn you once people see this kind of work you never get to build shop toys any more.
