Project Information

when i first got wind of bibb and deni's , rosewood deal .
i had been out of town for some time ,
and inquired if it was to late to get in on this deal .
after waiting for all the setbacks that arose ,
it turned out that i and fellow LJ'S ( fellaw ? )
margy , went to denver to save some shipping fees .
as luck would have it , we were the first ones there !
Al (bibb) had already sorted and sticker-ed the wood ,
so all we had to do was pick and pack .
i had been driving since 7:30 that morning ,
and it was 3:30 when we got there .
Al had to go and teach woodworking at 5:00 ,
so i didn't get to chat with him to much ,
but would like to thank him here again for his enthusiastic help .
from his logo , i thought he was a spaced out hippie ,
but it turns out he is a spaced out rocket scientist . lol :)
and thanks , margy , for the use of your truck and the company .
we ate , and came straight back to my place ,
arriving at 12:30 midnight ( long drive ! ) .
at 8:00 oclock last night , i coudn't wait any more .
i took a piece of 5/4×2' x4 1/2" , and started working it ,
to see what it was , and how it tooled .
WOW ! no more mr. pine problems for me .
i am in an epiphany , whole new life , new future ,
the tools loved rosewood , and i even went to oil/wax finnish .
the cresent moon is my signature in all my work .
it is bubinga and holly .

i have a total of 4 hours in this , and am staying open for the next
inspiration .
i dont want to waste a sliver of it , so will feel my way into it slowly
thanks for looking ,
work safe please.

very nice material … I like the inlay too … I've got 3 rosewood boards I've been holding on to for years. Your box has inspired me to dig them out and do something !

Hey David
Cool story and long trip but from the end results it looks like it was well worth the trip. Cool box bud who could not like rosewood.

patron,
Very nice box!-Boy you sure don't let any grass grow under your feet! I especially like the oil/wax finish, kinda makes me want to touch that rosewood! I like the signature inlay also. Great job and keep on keeping on!

mike ,
i have no idea .
i just needed to work the wood ,
and learn about it .
as we were talking on your post ,
i went to watco oil and some wax .
the nice thing is i found out that you can remove the wax with mineral spirits .
so if i want to do an inlay later on , i can just sand that down ,
and re-oil and wax !
the real difference , is that the tools track better than in softwoods .
and i don't have to worry about air born dust so much !

Man oh Man David, Didn't you just leave my house in CO a few minutes ago? I seems like it.
Your beautiful box will surely get everyone's attention. I'll use this space to let everyone know.

OK the cat is out of the bag. I received the Rosewood on Friday. It took me two days to unload, sort and sticker it all.
I had hoped to keep this under wraps for a few more days while I get my act together but oh well, lets rock and roll.
Man is this stuff beautiful. I would like to ask you all to be patient with me. I am spending my days looking for a real job and filling orders by night.
MMH has been a great help getting me set up on Pay Pal so I can receive electronic payments from all of you. My plan is to work down the list that I have from those of you who placed orders. I will make an invoice and send it to you via e-mail. I still do not have e addresses from some of you and I need that in order to send you the invoice. Once you get an e-mail followed by an invoice from me that you agree with, submit your payments to me via the Pay Pal system. This is the only way that I will be able to make this work.
By the way, David is right
I'm just an old hippie

David,
I understand your pain….I just got home from my own roadtrip to Denver to gather my portion of the wood. Wahoooo! this is nice stuff!

If my neighbor was not a state patrolman, I would be out in the shop right now (10:30pm) getting the plane and router up to full song. It is going to have to wait until Friday night for me, as my daughter has a softball game tommorrow.

Rj….the whole load is amazing…..Bibb was adament about having enough lumber to fill all of the Lumberjocks order. He litterally had to tell me to quit loading wood in my Suburban…so there is some very nice stuff for everyone that has pre-ordered.

Great projects David. I can't wait to see what everyone makes from this incredible wood.
