Project Information
I've wanted to do these for awhile now - finally getting to them. One of my other hobbies is photography. So this will be great to utilize my new jigs to knock out new frames any 'ol time now.
I got the design of these frames and the design of the table saw miter sled from FWW "Building Custom Picture Frames" with Mark Schofield. He explained it very nicely in their video series and offered great diagrams.
The table saw miter jig is awesome! I'm so glad that I actually built it correctly. I did one test mitered frame and the joints were dead on. Relief!! I then built the simple spline jig that rides on my fence. Easy jig - great results! I did buy a flat bottomed table saw blade specifically for splines.
Everything went very smooth for the frames. These are made out of mahogany with a birds eye maple inlay (mahogany spline). Finished it with a simple wiping varnish. Can't wait to do my next frames as the design elements are endless. These frames were a huge upgrade from our chincy Walmart frames for our kids' 12 month old pics in our hallway!
Thanks for looking!
