Project Information

Hey everyone, I've been pretty busy lately, but I got a little time in the shop and was able to build this saw. It has a brass back that I slotted on my schools horizontal mill, and a .020 1095(I think) springsteel plate. I made he nuts by hand using 9/16 brass bar stock. I got all of my materials from McMaster Carr just for reference. The handle is padauk made in classic 18th century style, my favorite of course.

I filed the saw 11ppi with 25 degrees of fleam and 15 degrees rake. The plate has about 3 inches of depth and is 14 inches long. I built this saw as part of a trade for a Stanley 45 from Don W. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I don't think I deserve a daily top 3 for this! Thanks a ton though. Building a saw is really not as difficult as it may seem. It seemed to cut pretty well, but I've never had a chance to compare to a premium saw so I don't have much to compare it to.

WOW! That is one beautiful piece of handiwork. You are quite the craftsman. I'm quite sure it cuts as nicely as it looks. That plate really shines. And, the brass back is super. Thanks the the forum entry.
