Project Information

This was a quick and simple project that I knocked out in a couple afternoons. I knew I wanted some kind of riding toy and stumbled across this guy's website. Naturally, I ripped off the idea and made one from some curly maple drops and a couple extra drawer pulls. I bought the casters, so total $10 for the whole deal.

Everything was already nicely jointed and planed from a previous project. The dovetails were done with a porter cable Omnijig I picked up on Craigslist. The longest part was sanding, painting the letters/stripes and finishing. The dust from the sander filled in most of the gaps pretty nicely!

That is a slick design. Your craftsmanship is definitely at a higher level than the original one.

That is way cool. The graphic is sweet. Well done. No bumper? The kid in the Ikea cabinet commercial just popped in my head.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yeah, the thought of a bumper definitely crossed my mind. I went with keeping an element of danger… I figured it would be just as easy to patch a couple of dents in the walls.

Cool scooter! This is way better than store bought ones, like the beautiful finish and painting.

That is a sweet ride. I love it. I loved building stuff for my kids too. You are a great dad to have the insight and ability to give such a good gift.
