Project Information

This is a Euro style Murphy bed with a Sofa in the front of it. The sofa is designed to stay there while the bed folds between the arms. I built it without a true back. The back cushions lean against the Murphy bed face.

Since this one has bookcases with the sofa, I needed some dead space for the sofa arms. Instead of just doing a filler piece, I turned some small bookcases 90 degrees before I added the regular bookcases. The smaller bookcases are only accessible from inside, when the bed is open.

The bed is Maple wood finished with just a clear coat of lacquer. It was built in November 2013.

Nice work. Although it looks like a convertible bed without the crappy matress…

Great use of space! Did you adapt existing plans, or is this an original? Either way, very nice job.

GreenfireLatheLady, I modified the create-a-bed plans with changing the face and making it taller. The Bookcase designs are mine.

clever design… I like the hidden book case filler piece.
