This 270 rifle features the gun owners dream buck, all though I know he has come close. I know because this is my brothers rifle. He wanted a euro mounted Mule deer skull. I went with a fish scale for the grips. This gun had factory checkering already so I sanded it down and kept the fish scaling inside the original checkering imprint. Both the fish scale and basket weave provide an excellent grip and the look is awesome if done properly. I tried some wood bleach on the skull to lighten it a bit. Unfortunately even the natural stain, or pre stain was still enough to darken it a bit. Overall this turned out quite nice. It is one of the simpler designs and I felt that it worked well with a skull mount, pretty bare bones and to the point! I know this one will probably be used in the field again.
