Project Information

As we get older, we sometimes need a "leg up" so to speak. I have a friend that loves to ride but has been having a problem getting on her horse. The answer to the problem, a mounting block. Basically 2 steps made of 3/4 oak ply scraps, some pocket screws, 90 degree molding, glue and a handle. An easy project that could also be used as a kitchen, library or… step stool. The bottom is open but it could have easily been closed off and the interior used for storage with an access door out the back. FInished with natural stain and varithane. Fun.

Hey jack - great use of some scraps and I'm sure your friend thinks the world of you for it.

Neat jack. I can think of several places around the house one of these would come in handy.

That may actually be handier than the nesting boxes. Thanks for the return message on the boxes, big help.

Ahhh, the old what to do with the scraps conundrum! A fine answer to that age old question! :)

Nice projects Jack. Hey, those steps to get on a horse would also make great doggy stairs. I build something similar, but carpeted them, for our dog. Nice work there!
