Project Information

When my mother in law saw a stand like this and asked me about it, I told her,"buy it"! She said it didn't fit her corner the way she wanted it to so she knew I could custom build it for her. Do you guys get this a lot? Do people understand the complexities of designing and building something from scratch? Oh well I do like being needed and this was a fun project.

I hear you loud and clear. If you follow a patter you can complete a project in a day or 2. That same project will take a week if you start from scratch…...plus then you overlooked something and then it doesn't measure out correct etc etc.
However, your project turned out well. Have to believe mom-in-law is happy.

I think the happy mother in law is a multiplying factor when it comes to cost and effort.

That's real purdy! A happy MIL is almost as good as a happy wife!....especially, if MIL lives close.

Nice! Also, as has been mentioned, it will keep you on the good side of the MIL. I'm fortunate that both sides of our family got along.

Very nice looking table. Now that you have a pattern you could make it available so we could make one for our mother-in-law's. :)

Jerry I would post a pattern if I had one. I may be weird but when I build a piece I just design it in my head as I go. I measured the space my MIL wanted the table to fit and just built it as I went.

In the hundreds of projects that I've built I can only remember a couple that I actually had plans. I've been thinking about taking pictures as I go so I can show how my pieces are made.

I'm just about finished with some more M&M candy dispensers and although I looked at hundreds of them for ideas the end product was engineered in my head. As I tested the end product candy was falling out of it so I had to go back and add a few pieces of "trim" to stop the spillage. Guess that's the disadvantage of not having plans.
