Project Information
Here are some more jewelry boxes I made based on the jewelry box design from Wood Magazine (Gem of a jewelry box). These are also made from Walnut and Ash. I used ash with grain patterns. I had a piece of curly ash that was a creamy white color that was used on one of the tops. The tops are a single piece of ash that was book-matched and glued to make a nice pattern.
The finish is three coats of Formby's Tung Oil finish high-gloss. One of these was rubbed out with Briwax and steel wool to give it a satin finish. Each drawer has a felt liner that was glued using spray adhesive. I made a number of these boxes using different combinations of walnut, ash, cherry and spalted maple. The hinges are Brusso solid brass hinges.
