Project Information

It's been a little while since I last posted pictures of wooden rings, so here's an update.
These are some of the more recent wood combinations I've been experimenting with. There are so many possibilities with these things! :)

Hawaiian Koa (shimmer feature) ring with offset Ziricote inlay
Santos Rosewood ring with Offset Turquoise Inlay
Teak ring with Golden Koa lining
Kingwood stack set
Lignum Vitae ring with Walnut lining
Santos Rosewood ring with Golden Koa lining

Thanks, guys! :)

@Mark: I use a cyanoacrylate (superglue) finish on them.

They look great, I can't tell from the pictures about size. About what size are they? Really like these.

Thanks, Bill! They range from around 4mm to 8mm in width, and are in various sizes. The narrow ring shown in the stack set is 2mm wide.

These are excellent. I have made a few of these myself but my work is very inferior to yours. You have shown me what is possible and now I feel challenged to step-up my game. Thank you.

Thank you all so much! It really is a nice feeling to read your comments!

@mcchairs: Those are made with an adapted bentwood method. I don't really have any pics to document that process, but I do have a description of the laminate-cut technique here:

Also, you may want to search some previous projects, as there are other LJs who have shared their really nice ring designs on here.

Frank,

I looked over most of your projects and have to say these are the ones I like the most. I particularly like the choices in wood colors. I was actually encouraged by Brant to come to LJ. He was in a woodworking class I taught and he brought his rings and showed us. I had never seen wooden rings before. Your bentwood rings are intriguing to me. I think I like them more than the flat laminated ones. I've not tried making a ring yet, but your work makes me want to try it NOW. Very nice work. Especially since you havn't used a lathe. I saw your blog too. Thanks for sharing some of your techniques.
