This 5.5x2” bowl is known as Bolivian Rosewood or Morado. Unknown actual name but it appears comes from South America and the wood has extremely high oil content. This is another bowl I turned a month ago but it would not take a finish. Due to so many coats of lacquer and sanding between, brand on back is almost filled in. I turned this same wood a year ago and had same issues with finish.
