Project Information

I have had a Shopsmith for 30+ years but rarely use it, mostly as a very versatile drill press. I am going to build a regular rolling cabinet for my planer but other priorities supersede that project. Some of those priority projects require the use of the planer. So… this was my interim solution. A double thickness of particle board for a base and supports drilled with a hole saw to fit the bottom tubes of the Shopsmith. Supports screwed into the base and 1/4 inch bolts to secure the clamps to the tubes. It is a bit low but eliminates lifting the heavy planer and it is mobile!

Good one! Almost makes me miss my SS. I liked the disk sander and using it as a lathe almost as much as the DP. Absolutely hated using it as a table saw.
