Project Information

Hey fellow Jocks. This is my first thing I have ever built out of wood. And if you look close you can see a couple of serious mistake. But we will get to that in a second. I purchased a home that had a 2000 Square Foot unfinished basement. I was so excited. I used 500 square feet and built a woodworking shop. But before I could tackle that task, I knew I needed a cart to handle all the air tools and nails, thus my first woodworking item.

The biggest mistake I made was when I was assembling the drawers. I made the front board of each drawer the same width as the drawer itself. I forgot to take into account the side rails and covering them. So when you look at this cart head on, you can see the rails on each side of the drawers. Well, I glued and nailed them on so they are NOT coming off for me to fix. I just do not feel like it is worth the time, replacement wood etc to fix. It is not a functional issue, just a cosmetic one.

Another issue I had was getting the drawer handles centered correctly. They did not go on as planned. (I have purchased a jig for future drawer projects). Suffice it to say, once I saw the error of my ways, I had to drill extra holes to get them centered (and if you look close, I did not do the best job). Lesson learned. Isn't this what it is all about anyway?

Remove the metadata. You should be able to edit/rotate them in a free windows program. I use Irfanview to edit photos and get them in the right rotation as well as resize them.

Nicely done. As for the pictures, it is a quirk (we wish they would fix) with the LJ website and pictures usually taken with your phone. The easiest way to prevent the problem is to edit the picture on your phone, select the crop too, make any minor adjustment and save the picture. When you post it, it should be right side up.

looks like the picture problem is fixed now you just need to remember these mistakes and fix those next time too,it's only a problem if youve learned nothing from this.the more mistakes you make the more you will learn,so no big deal.the cart is shop furniture and functional so it's all good.

Yes, I did get the picture issue fixed. They should all be showing up correctly now. Believe it or not, it was 6 months before I actually noticed the drawer screw up. I have learned.

Really like the design and the using the molding on the top for a finishing touch. As for the extra holes, see my signature line below.

Nicely done even with the errors. What is the purpose of the well on top?

The well on top is for when I am using the cart. A place to set the nail gun in-between uses, as well as other various tools I am working on depending on the project. I have found the top well/tool holding areas is one of the most used features on this.

I don't build large items anymore, but I sure could have used something like this a few years ago. Great build
