Project Information
I have been meaning to acquire or make one of these for a long time… I recently upgraded my furnace in the house, so I kept the fan for just this purpose. There is nothing at all glamorous about this, but it works great (quiet too) and doesn't take up any more room in the shop. When I started this project, I was originally going to mount it to the ceiling (as there is a lot of advantages to that) but this seemed much simpler. It was extremely cheap and simple and only took one night to complete. At the original speed it nearly sucked the filters in, so I had to change the drive pulley.
I still have to put a grate on the fan, but I am contemplating changing the direction of the air flow to angle it more towards the ceiling so it doesn't blow on the floor.
If I had known what a difference it makes in air quality I would have done this much sooner. Normally after sweeping the shop I have to leave for a little while, but now I don't have to…
thanks for looking.
